Bongart
About This Home
Baufritz has been building timber homes since 1896, and every house leaves their factory in Bavaria built to their ecological construction standards. The Bongart is one of their most compact models, coming in at just over 18 m², and is designed as a single-bedroom dwelling. That footprint is deliberately tight, which makes it an unusual proposition in the Baufritz range.
Every Bongart is built with Baufritz's proprietary wood shaving insulation, a natural thermal material they developed in-house that has become one of the better-known natural insulation systems in European housebuilding. The ecological timber frame is paired with energy-efficient heating and climate management systems. The layout is customisable to personal preferences, with smart home integration available.
At this price point for 18 m², the Bongart is clearly aimed at a buyer with a specific brief: perhaps a garden annexe, a standalone office, or a prestige guest retreat where quality of construction matters more than square footage. Anyone considering it should be clear-eyed about the ratio. The build quality, however, is genuine.
What We Love
The Bongart is a rare Baufritz model at this scale, and it brings the same proprietary wood shaving insulation and ecological timber frame construction to a compact footprint that most manufacturers wouldn't bother specifying at this level.
