Smith
About This Home
Baufritz has been building ecological timber homes since 1896, and the Smith is one of their more confident contemporary designs. The bold geometric form and large glass surfaces are the defining exterior features, with the glazing strategy bringing substantial natural light into the open-plan interior. At just under 160 m² across two storeys, the floor plan is well-resolved for a four-bedroom family home with a premium feel.
The ecological timber frame uses Baufritz's proprietary wood shaving insulation throughout, alongside advanced heating systems, climate control, and eco-friendly water heating. Integrated terraces connect the interior to outdoor spaces. Smart home automation and modern utility connections are part of the specification. The allergy-friendly material standard applies throughout.
The Smith appeals to buyers who want a home that makes a clear visual statement as well as delivering strong ecological performance. The geometry is purposeful rather than decorative, and the glazing serves the interior quality directly. Interior configurations and finishes are customisable. German standards apply, with UK compliance confirmed on a project by project basis.
What We Love
The Smith's geometric form and extensive glazing work together to flood the interior with natural light: it's one of the more architecturally focused designs in the Baufritz range, and the glass-to-wall ratio is genuinely high.
